Bodedern Watermill -
known as Factory Llywenan Woolen (Fulling) Mill on the Isle
of Anglesey (Ynys Môn)
in North Wales.

Anglesey, Llywenan Tweed Mill, Front and side.
As I have said on the 'Pandy
Llywenan' page
in my opinion it possible that these two mills were
part of the same business, and were possibly operated by the
same
family.
The power for driving the water wheel was provided by a stream
from the nearby Llyn (Lake) Llywenan. After passing through the
mill the water then passed under the road and along a burrow
to the nearby mill pond of Pandy Llywenan, where it also powered
that mill.
The mill in latter years was operated by the Anglesey Tweed
Company, which still existed up until the 1970's. I understand
that the substantial water wheel was at some point stolen - and
probably sold as
scrap
metal! I believe that much of the machinery is still stored inside.
On
the 1881 census, Evan Jones aged 30, and born in Caernarfon,
is listed as a wool manufacturer. He
lives
at
the premises named
'Factory Llywenan' with his wife, 1 daughter and 2 sons.
