Bodelwyddan Castle in the county of Denbighshire in North Wales, was formerly known as Bodelwyddan Hall. The estate can trace its history back to the middle of the 15th century, and for many years it was the home of the Williams family, who were invloved in lead mining.

In 1920 the Williams family sold the estate to Lowther College, which it continued to be until the 1970's.

Today, Bodelwyddan Castle is a visitor attraction, and also Bodelwyddan Castle Hotel. In partnership with the National Portrait Gallery the Castle has many important paintings on display. In addition to being able to view the impressive house there are woodlands, cultivated gardens, a garden maze, an aviary, and aviary gardens. Remaining from the First World War are trenches used by trainee troops prior to being shipped off to War in France. There is also a 19th century games room, tea rooms, and a souvenir shop.

We spent a lovely day there - weather was great, courtesy of the Lord - my advice, take a picnic and enjoy the surrounding countyside and excellent views.
