Owen Owen lived at Bryn Hidl in Mynydd Mechell with his parents, John Richard Owen and Margaret Owen. With them lived his sister and brothers. Like all of his brothers, Owen was strong shouldered, fit and healthy, having worked on the land.

When the second world war (WWII) broke out, Owen enlisted in the Royal Artillery, and was assigned to the 257 Coast Regiment. Serving with him was his friend from home, Tecwyn Jones.

Owen had served in several countries including Tunisia. It was whilst he was serving in Tunisia that Owen was killed on the 25th of September 1943, as the result of a railway accident, nothing else is known. Owen was 26 years of age. His friend Tecwyn happily survied the war.

Owen's brother Harry Owen served in Buma, and after the war worked on the railway at Chester.

On Owen's grave in Tunisia is engraved a message from the family that reads:-

'Our dear beloved son Owen, never forgotten by his parents, sister and brothers' - 'Until We Meet Again'.
