Llangollen.
Llangollen in North Wales is a charming place. The growth of the town of Llangollen came during the 1820's, with the laying of the new road (now the A5) from Holyhead to London, by the famous engineer Thomas Telford. Prior to the building of the road there were very few buildings in the area of Llangollen. The bridge over the River Dee however originates in the 14th century. Most of the town was built between the years of 1850 and 1870, and the Victorian architecture is very evident. A lovely town to book into a hotel and spend a few days in the Welsh hillside.
