In 1979 the River Rhondda overflowed, which was not that unusual in villages like Trehafod, but was a little more unusual in Porth. Christine Crosby (nee Densley) kindly sent in these two images of the local flooding.

From the year 2005 on, work began on the new road through the Valleys. My good friend and someone who went to school with me in Ynyshir - Mr Steve Robbins - kept me up to date with a pictorial record of the changes. His photographs are below.
