Rhydwyn Windmill - known as Melin Bryn Bwa on the Isle of Anglesey (Ynys Môn) in North Wales.

Everywhere I have researched this windmill it is known as Melin Cylch Y Garn, and yet the only Mill and Miller on the 1881 census refers to the Mill as Bryn Bwa Mill. The Miller's name is Thomas Williams, aged 53 and born in this parish (Llanrhyddlad). He lives at the premises (which might be the ruined house in the photos) with his wife, one daughter, two sons, and two servants. Thomas Williams is described as a Corn Miller and Farmer of five acres.

Looking over towards the sea and Church Bay, Melin Dryllia Windmill is on the same elevation, and as you may see in the photos is clearly visible.

I know nothing of the age of this windmill, or indeed when it went into disuse, but I do know that it was eventually demolished by the Anglesey Council as it had become a danger to children. The land on which the Mill remains are located is currently (2009) owned by a Mr Jones of Llangefni.

O.S. Coordinates: SH315889.
