Llangefni Watermill

Felin Lon Vron on the Isle of Anglesey (Ynys Môn) in North Wales.

Anglesey, Llangefni Water Mill from Lon Vron.

The water mill on Lon Vron in Llangefni would once have milled corn and is part of what appears to be a smallholding or farm complex. It is a small mill and would take its’ power from the Afon (River) Cefni. In my opinion, this would be of a period not too long away from the middle of the nineteenth century.

The metal water wheel is still in position, although the wooden blades or buckets have presumably rotted and fallen off. The water still runs past the wheel, and there appear to be two mill ponds on the property, one immediately behind the mill, and another – smaller one – a hundred yards or so behind that.

I know that where the County Council offices and car park now stand (on Lon Felin (Mill Lane)) there was once another water mill, and I would guess that would have been a bit larger than this mill.
