Dwyran Water Mill

Named Felin Bach, on the Isle of Anglesey (Ynys Môn) in North Wales.

Anglesey, Dwyran, Felin Bach Water Mill – nearing completion in December 2009.

I visited the site of Felin Bach Water Mill in Dwyran on December 2009 and was met by the owner – Patrick – who enthusiastically spoke with me about the mill and the conversion to a dwelling that he was undertaking. When completed, the mill is for Patrick’s daughter to live in. Patrick has the passion, drive, and best of all the ability (he is a Saer (carpenter) to achieve everything he hopes to in converting the mill to a dwelling. I look forward to going back in about 6 months time to see it completed.

Like one or two water mill conversions on Anglesey, a water wheel will complete this dwelling. What is amazing is that much of the original machinery will also be put back inside (and outside) of the mill, making it that bit more special.

The nearby Mill House was built in 1812, and I would guess the mill may be contemporary with that date, although there may have been a mill in this place for many years prior to that. See link below for pictures of the internal machinery.
