Llandegfan Standing Stone

The Pen y Maen standing stone is close to the village of Llandegfan and is easily spotted because of the elevated position it enjoys. I travelled on the A55 road from the Holyhead direction, turning off just before the Stephenson tubular bridge, signposted for Menai Bridge. Turning right at the top, I travelled a short distance to Four Crosses roundabout where I went straight over onto the A5025. After a little way, I turned right immediately before Pentraeth Garage, signposted for Llandegfan. After a short drive, I saw the standing stone on a hillside top to my left.
It is clear by the damage to the fence and stone wall that many have gained access by this means, and I don’t know the owners of this field or how anyone should properly access the site. Perhaps someone could let me know and I will post the information here. It would be a great idea for CADW to provide an entrance and signs to this quite impressive standing stone, which is at least 8 feet tall (I didn’t have a tape with me).
