Holyhead English Presbyterian Church War Memorials

Holyhead, English Presbyterian Church on Newry Street

The Roll of Honour includes the names of everyone that worshipped at the English Presbyterian Church in Newry Street, Holyhead who went to war in World War One (WWI). That is everyone, even the servicemen that survived the war, which is of interest to amateur genealogists that are researching their family history. The information is scant and does not even include ages or addresses. I have tried to fill in some of the information and this is reflected in the table below.

M.M. or M.C. after the surname indicates a Military Medal or Military Cross winner. This is why the chapel rolls of honour that include servicemen who survived the wars are so important. I for one would not have known who the survivors with top gallantry awards were. There are three Military Crosses and two Military Medals awarded to these servicemen from within one Church congregation – wow!
